On January 31, 2008, the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation recognized the 2007 Star Teaching Grant recipients at a reception held at the Colleyville Center to not only honor the grant recipients but also all lead donors to the Foundation for the year-to-date. At the May 28, 2008 GCISD Board of Trustees meeting the Foundation presented a check to the Board and the District for $119,750 to fund this year's 29 teaching grants and 68 mini-grants. The Foundation will also be presenting 12 campus endowment grants and 13 student scholarships, bringing this school year's total donations to the district to over $125,000. Since its founding in 1998, the Foundation has raised $2.25 million, contributed more than three-quarter million to GCISD teachers and students and established an endowment for perpetual giving of nearly $1 million. The Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation was created to support the educational programs of the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District. The foundation will provide funds beyond the normal operating budget for educational programs and activities for students and staff. Foundation funds will be used to facilitate student achievement and skill development, recognize and encourage staff excellence and expand community involvement from individuals, businesses and civic organizations. The foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt public corporation operating independently under a board of directors serving without compensation. The foundation invites members of the community to make a contribution to support and enhance the quality education our children receive. Tax-deductible contributions may be made to the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation and sent to: P.O. Box 292, Grapevine, TX 76009.
