REGISTER
ONLINE
Every educator/administrator who holds a teaching certificate and every
classroom paraprofessional is required to go to the State
Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) online and set
up an account with their current mailing address. Once on the SBEC website,
select the link for "Online Services for Educators," then
the link for new users. Once you have an online account, you can apply
for a variety of certifications, view the status of your certification
applications and exam results, as well as review credentials if you
are certified in another state or country.
For more
information visit
the SBEC site.
FINGERPRINTING
SBEC requires all first-time applicants for an initial credential to
be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check. Only
first-time applicants for the following will be affected at this time:
- Standard
5-Year Renewable Certificates
- Probationary
Certificates
- One-Year
Certificates
- Emergency
Permits
- Educational
Aide Certificates
Information
about this is available
on the SBEC website.
Fingerprinting
status update on the SBEC website.
APPLICATIONS
SBEC will no longer accept paper applications from educators
certified in another state or in another country, as the application
process for Texas certificates is now done online. This change is important
for any educator with an out-of-state license and the process must be
started immediately in order to receive a One-Year Certificate to cover
them for this school year.
Additional
information about this is available
on the SBEC website.
