    Winter Break approaching; early release times set
    semifinalists

    GCISD schools and administrative offices will be closed beginning Friday, Dec. 21 for Winter Break. Employees will return Jan. 2 for staff development and students will return Jan. 3.

    GCISD students will enjoy early dismissal on Thursday, Dec. 20, the last day before winter break. Elementary students will be released at 11:30 a.m., middle school students will be released at Noon and high schools will release students at 12:30 p.m.

    As a reminder, the 2007-08 Student/Teacher calendar designates Friday, Jan. 18 as the end of the first semester.

    GCISD has a variety of exciting events and activities happening every week at campuses throughout the District. From PTA meetings and school programs to District celebrations and student achievements, you're sure to find something in Around the District.

    Awards and Announcements
    CHHS Adopt-A-Family makes big impact
    Teachers, classes, organizations, students and parents at Colleyville Heritage High collected gifts for a record 46 GCISD families from nine campuses as part of the CHHS GCISD Adopt-A-Family program. In its fifth year, this program provided more than 1,000 gifts for 185 children and parents in GCISD. (View photo)

    GCAP collects for GRACE, scholarships
    The Grapevine-Colleyville Association of Paraprofessionals has been sharing the holiday spirit with two events designed to benefit students in the community. GCAP recently hosted its annual holiday party in which toys for GRACE were collected. In addition, the organization has been selling pecans throughout December to fund two $500 scholarships for seniors at Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine high schools, and a $300 scholarship for a paraprofessional in GCISD.(View photo)
