    District Art Show set for March

    Selected artwork of elementary, middle and high school students will be featured during the GCISD District Art Show, March 10-31 at the Administration building, 3051 Ira E. Woods Avenue in Grapevine. The Administration building will be closed during Spring Break, March 17-21.

    Cold and flu season is here! Here are a few reminders from the school nurses about returning to school following an illness and about medication administration at school:

    Students must stay home from school due to illness if any of the following are present:

    • Fever of 100 degrees or higher in the past 24 hours
    • Vomiting and/or diarrhea in the past 24 hours
    • Itchy, red eyes with discharge
    • Unknown rash

    • Written permission of the parent or legal guardian is required for the administration of all medications.
    • Complete a medication administration authorization (forms may be found on the GCISD website, then Parents>Sc hool Health Services.).
    • Medications must be in the original, properly labeled container.
    • All medications must be kept in the clinic.
    • Non-prescription medications will only be given for a maximum of ten (10) consecutive days. Continued administration of a non-prescription medication after the ten (10) days will require a doctor's signature. Switching to another variation of a non-prescription medication is not acceptable. Any medication left at the end of the administration period will be discarded if not picked up.
    • In accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act, nurses will not administer supplements, herbals or homeopathic medications which are not FDA regulated.

    Please contact your campus nurse if you have questions about student illness or use of medications at school.

    Fifteen GCISD students go to state Reflections Contest

    Entries from 15 Grapevine-Colleyville ISD students from the Area #17 level of the 2007-2008 Arts Reflections Contest will advance to the state level of the contest and have the opportunity to compete in the national level of competition.

    The GCISD Swim Center offers swim lessons and open swim, as well as water aerobics and pool rental for birthday parties. Dates and times are listed on the Swim Center website and at the link below.

    Grapevine High School to host Japanese National Debate Team

    Grapevine High School Debate students, in cooperation with the National Communication Association, will host a public debate with representatives of the Japanese National Debate Team on March 12 at 7 p.m. at the Palace Theatre on Main Street in Grapevine.
