    Flu vaccination recommended
    semifinalists

    Flu season is approaching and now is the best time to take steps to protect yourself and your family. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), in an average year, the flu causes 36,000 deaths (mostly among those 65 years or older) and more than 200,000 people are hospitalized.

    Anyone who wants to reduced their risk of getting the flu can get the vaccination, you should, however, consult your physician first if you have allergies to chicken eggs, have had a severe reaction to the vaccination in the past or have had a recent illness with fever.

    You can find a list of resources about the flu on the GCISD website at the link below, including current locations for flu immunizations offered by the Tarrant County Health Department. Flu immunizations also may be available through your primary care physician.

    Here are several upcoming dates that you may want to put on your calendar:

    • GCISD Board of Trustees Regular Meeting - Monday, Oct. 29.
    • Red Ribbon Week at GCISD - Oct. 29-Nov. 2
    • GHS vs Carroll High School - Thursday, Nov. 1, 7:30 p.m., to be taped by and shown on Fox Sports Network.
    • Daylight Savings time ends - Nov. 4. Set your clocks back one hour.
    • Election Day - Nov. 6
    • Veterans' Day - Nov. 11. Check your school calendar for related activities.
    • GCISD Thanksgiving Break - Nov. 19-23

    Students must remain in stands during games

    For the safety of everyone attending football games at Mustang-Panther Stadium, GCISD students should remain in the stands during the games. Please let your student know that he/she will not be allowed to congregate on the steps, on the grassy areas or near concession stands or restrooms. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment at our stadium.
