Band booster parent meeting tonight
The Grapevine/Colleyville Band Booster Club will
host
its first parent meeting of the year at 6:30 p.m. tonight
in the CHHS Band Hall. All parents with
band students attending a GCISD middle school or
high school are strongly encouraged to attend.
GCISD Board of Trustees meets tonight
The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees will
meet for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting
tonight at the GCISD Administration Building, 3051
Ira E. Woods Ave. in Grapevine. Open session
begins at 7 p.m. Information: 817-251-5503.
GHS Corral set for Friday
Corral, a PTSA-sponsored party after home football
games for Grapevine High School students, will host
a gathering on Sept. 28 in the Student Activity Center
and Gym 1 at GHS. The event starts immediately after
the GHS football game and ends at 12:30 a.m. All
GHS students are encouraged to attend. A valid
GCISD high school ID is required to enter; guests
from outside the District will not be admitted.
Admission is $5 per person and includes all food and
beverages. Upcoming Corral nights are scheduled
for Oct. 19 and Nov. 9. For information, visit the GHS

Upcoming Events
Driver's Education registration to begin
Registration begins Oct. 2 for the fall session of
GCISD Driver's Education. The session runs
Monday-Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 22-Nov. 15 in
room 106 at Grapevine High. Cost is $315 for GCISD
students, $365 for out-of-district students, plus a $15
non-refundable registration fee. Registrations are
accepted from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. weekdays in the
front offices of both GHS and Colleyville Heritage
High as well as the office of Continuing Education,
736 E. Northwest Highway in Grapevine. Information:

GCISD schools closed for holiday
GCISD schools will be closed Oct. 8 for a student/
teacher holiday. Administrative offices will be open
for regular hours. Classes will resume Oct. 9 as
scheduled.
Awards and Announcements
Bridges students aid domestic violence
victims
Students and faculty members at Bridges Learning
Center recently collected 25 used cell
phones for donation to the Grapevine Police
Department. The
phones will be refurbished and distributed to local
victims of domestic violence for emergency use. This
program was a return-to-school project for the 33
students currently being served at Bridges. The
phones were accepted by Grapevine Det. Darcey
Sutton during a Sept. 14 celebration at the campus.

CHHS debate starts season strong
In their first two weeks of competition, the Colleyville
Heritage High Debate team has placed two teams in
the toup four finishers at a major regional and a
national tournament. In addition, the policy debate
teams of Andrew Murray and Alex Nasr, and Evan
Defilippis and James Hamrai, have already qualified
to compete in the national Tournament of Champions
in May. Hamrai, Murray and Defilippis were also
named the second, seventh and eighth top speakers
respectively at the national Greenhill Debate
tournament. Other individual honors include: Rahim
Sayani, quarterfinalist and top speaker, Lincoln
Douglas debate, Grapevine Fall Classic; Arti Chatia,
semifinalist and fourth-place speaker, Lincoln
Douglas
debate, Grapevine Fall Classic; and Michael
Sorenson,
third place and top speaker, Lincoln Douglas debate,
Southlake Carroll tournament. Information: David
