Education Foundation to honor top GCISD graduates
For the eighth year, the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation
will honor the top graduating seniors from the Class of 2007 at
Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine high schools, each of their distinguished
teachers, and the district’s Teachers of the Year. The Foundation’s
2007 Distinguished Friend Award recipient,
Mark Howe, will also be recognized. The Distinguished
Friend Award is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated
a commitment to the mission and vision of the Foundation. Past recipients
of the Distinguished Friend Award include Roy Stewart in 2003, Balla
Wright in 2004, Shirley Cannon Holley in 2005 and Dr. Jim Thompson
in 2006.
The
Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation’s “Celebrating
Our Stars” Academic Recognition Banquet will
be held Thursday, May 24, at the Hilton DFW Lakes in Grapevine.
The event’s Gold Star Sponsor is the Star-Telegram and Silver
Star sponsors include Hilton DFW Lakes, Huckabee & Associates,
Park Place Motorcars Mid-Cities and Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins
& Mott, LLP. Bronze Star sponsors to-date include – Brackett

Judy Atwood,
banquet co-chair with Mary Alice Rippe and Lorraine Compo, said,
“The banquet is a GCISD community celebration - a very positive
occasion that recognizes distinguished students and teachers. The
Foundation is thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize these
outstanding students and teachers and truly appreciate the sponsors
and individuals who help make this annual event possible.”
The evening
will commence with a reception, followed by dinner, music and entertainment
by GCISD teachers and students, congratulatory remarks by GCISD
Superintendent and Education Foundation Secretary Dr. Kay Waggoner,
and the recognition of the Teachers of the Year, Distinguished Friend,
and Student and Teachers of the Year.
