GCISD
students named AP Scholars for high performances
A total
of 375 GCISD students representing Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine
high schools have earned designation as AP Scholars for their exceptional
achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) program
exams. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement
based on a student’s performance on the exams.
Thirty
of those students – 19 at CHHS and 11 at GHS – earned
National AP Scholar status by scoring a 4 or higher on a 5-point
scale on all AP exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight
or more of these exams.
National
AP Scholars from CHHS are: Lauren Anderson, Patrick Baggett, Cliff
Bielinski, Luke Budiardjo, Sarah Davis, Christopher Ertel, Brittany
Finlayson, Alicia Frinak, Kaylee Goyer, Aaly Hirany, Hyungbin Kim,
Alex Muller, Joe Muller, Carolyn Rippe, Elliot Scharfenberg, Stephanie
Segien, Griffin Seifried, Johan Sohn and Catherine Turner.
National
AP Scholars from GHS are: Danielle Baca, Claire Balani, Michele
Batista, Elissa Butler, William Chemelewski, Karl Gluck, Rebecca
Jordan, Rene Mani, Joshua Richard, Christopher Seelinger and Jason
Smith.
In
addition, 130 students are recognized as AP Scholars with Distinction
for earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken,
and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
Another
58 students representing both high schools have received designation
as AP Scholars with Honor for earning an average grade of at least
3.25 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or
more of these exams.
The
remaining 157 students are honored as AP Scholars for earning grades
of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
The
College Board’s Advanced Placement program offers students
the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high
school. Based on their performances on the AP exams, students can
receive college credit, advanced placement or both.
Students
took AP exams in May 2006. According to the College Board, about
18 percent of the more than one million high school students who
took AP exams earned recognition as AP Scholars.
