Spring
TAKS results show continued improvement in student performance
Grapevine-Colleyville
ISD students continue to show gains in most areas of the Texas Assessment
of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), according to preliminary results
released today. Students in grades 3-11 throughout Texas took the
TAKS in April.
Student
performance at GCISD improved over last year on 20 of the 27 tests
administered, as indicated by higher scale scores. The percentage
of students achieving commended performance increased on 19 of the
tests administered, with double-digit increases in the areas of
science and reading in certain grades.
The
Spring TAKS are preliminary and still include results of students
who tested, but whose results will not be included in the determination
of accountability. This includes students who were not enrolled
in GCISD for the entire school year. Retests for students in grades
3, 5 and 11 will continue through July, and the Texas Education
Agency will release final results in August after all retests and
the third administration of the TAKS has been completed. The TEA
will also announce official accountability ratings in the fall.
