Festival Awards honors top movie makers in District
Over
100 students and staff members were honored for their talents and
skills in movie-making at the GCISD Video Festival Awards held April
26 at The Metro Cinema in Colleyville.
For
the last five years, the Video Festival has celebrated the creativity
of students and staff, offering a variety of contests and activities
which promote higher order thinking and enriched electronic communication
skills which are so critical for success.
The
culmination of the Video Festival is the awards program, recognizing
students whose entries stand out as the best in their category.
Categories included Make Me Laugh, Teach Me Something, Tell
Me A Story, Animation, Character Education and Documentary,
with students from kindergarten through grade 12 submitting approximately
70 entries. Judges selected 39 finalists videos and from those the
category winners and several special award winners were selected.
In
addition to the movie entries, students submitted over 100 entries
for the Video Festival's logo and poster contest, and those winners
were also recognized at the awards ceremony. The high school winner
for the logo contest was Alissa Howard, GHS, and the middle schools
winner was Disha Kumar, HMS. For the poster contest, the high school
winner was Alissa Howard, GHS, and the middle school winner was
Jinny Seo, HMS. Those winners may be seen on the Video Festival
website at www.gcisd-k12.org/vidfest.
