GCISD high school cheerleading meeting scheduled
An informational meeting for parents of any student interested in
trying out for cheerleader at Colleyville Heritage High or Grapevine
High for the 2008-2009 school year is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday
in the cafeteria at Heritage Middle School. Applications are due

theater presents 'Into The Woods'
Grapevine High Theatre students will present the musical "Into
The Woods" in six performances beginning Thursday night. Show
times are 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday,
7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7
for students and senior citizens and $5 for children under age 7.

CHHS theater presents
'Bye Bye Birdie'
Theater students at Colleyville Heritage High will present the musical
comedy "Bye Bye Birdie" in six performances beginning
Friday night. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and Feb.
7-9, and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 9. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students
and can be purchased online at www.chhspanthertheater.org

Panteras to present 'Showcase of Dance'
The
Colleyville Heritage High Panteras dance team will present a
Spring Fling Showcase of Dance from 2-5 p.m. Saturday in the CHHS
Main Gym. The 70-member team will perform dances showcasing styles
including modern, lyrical, jazz and prop. The Pantherettes junior
varsity team will entertain with jazz, modern and pompom routines.
Other performers will include the Panteras and Pantherettes officers,
CHHS dance classes, Colleyville Middle and Heritage Middle dance
teams, and dancers from local studios. The public is invited and

Fillies gear up for annual 5K and Fun Run
Registration is underway for the eighth-annual Fillie Trot 5K, 1-mile
and Fun Run, scheduled for Saturday at Oak Grove Park near Lake
Grapevine. This annual event benefits the Beth DePertuis Memorial
Fund and the Grapevine High Fillies dance team. Registration fee
is $20 per person, $17 each for teams of 10 or more. Registration

Curriculum Nights planned
Curriculum Night for current Colleyville Heritage High freshmen,
sophomores and juniors to plan next year's class schedules will
be Feb. 4. Eighth grade students who will be attending CHHS in the
fall will have an opportunity to visit with teachers and discuss
ninth-grade courses on Feb. 11. Information: 817-305-4700.

Project Graduation planning underway
The next meeting of the Grapevine High School Project Graduation
Committee will be 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the new Colleyville Elementary.

Band presents contemporary-style concert
The Grapevine High Band Department will present
its annual Contemporary Band Music Concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 in
the Madeline Hemley Auditorium at GHS. The free and public concert
will feature performances by the GHS Concert Band, Symphonic Band,
Honors Band and Wind Ensemble. Information: 817-251-5249.
GCISD
closed for national holiday
GCISD campuses and administrative offices will be closed Feb. 18
for the Presidents Day holiday. Classes and office hours will resume
as scheduled Feb. 19.
GCISD Night with the Dallas Stars
GCISD students, employees and families can enjoy discount pricing
and benefit the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation as part
of GCISD Family Night with the Dallas Stars on Feb. 20.
The Stars will take on the Calgary Flames at 7 p.m. at the American
Airlines Center. Tickets for GCISD families are $15 for Terrace
level and $45 for Lower level, with a portion of each ticket sale
going back to the Foundation to fund grants and programs for students
and teachers. Order forms will be available at each GCISD school,
and all ticket purchases should be made through the Dallas Stars.
Ticket orders/payment will not be accepted at the schools. Information:

and Announcements
Winners named in PTA Reflections Arts Contest
Forty-one GCISD students have earned awards of Excellence or Merit
in
the 2007-2008 Council of PTAs Reflections contest. Students from
all grade levels submitted entries in various arts areas including
dance, film/video, literature, music, photography and visual arts.
These students will now compete in the area competition. View
a list of the Council winners.
CHHS teacher named 'Rising Star'
U.S. History teacher Brandi Rae has been selected as a Texas Exes
"Rising Star," which honors teachers who have taught less
than three years and are already recognized by their peers as exceptional
teachers. Rae was nominated by Kay Fluitt, a fellow CHHS teacher
and former honoree of the Texas Exes Awards for Outstanding Teachers.
With this honor, Rae is invited to attend the 2008 Conference on
Texas Excellence in Education in February in Austin. Congratulations
to Rae for this special achievement.
GCISD swimmers and divers earn medals at meet
Students from Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine high schools made
a strong showing this past weekend in the District Swim and Dive
meet, with the GHS and CHHS girls teams earning second and third
in district, respectively, and the GHS and CHHS boys teams earning
third and fifth in district, respectively, out of eight schools
competing. Two GHS students, Jordan Marcom and Chase Davis, also
were each named "Diver of the Meet." Students who placed
first through sixth will compete at the regional meet Feb. 8-9.
CHHS medalists are: Gwen Blythe, Brandon Couch, Travis Couch, Paige
Ebert, Jon Ehrhart, Ryan Hall, Christine Riddle, Sarah Thomas and
Molly Rippe. GHS medalists are: Chase Davis, Tito Ebersole, Nick
Han, Lisa Lamb, Ben Mann, Jordan Marcom, Jenny Maxwell, Katie Miles,
Heather Moon, Alex Oswell and Brandon Wilkinson. Congratulations
to all our GCISD swimmers and divers, and good luck at regionals.
PTA Council scholarship applications available
The GCISD Council of PTAs scholarship application for graduating
seniors is now available online. Students from Colleyville Heritage
and Grapevine high schools who are on track to graduate in May need
to complete the application and return it to the GHS or CHHS counseling
office by Noon on March 31. The application is available at www.gcisdcouncilofptas.org.
