Board of Trustees meeting
The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees will meet for its
regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Monday at the GCISD Administration
Building, 3051 Ira E. Woods Ave. in Grapevine. Open session begins

Special
Services to host multi-district Fall Social
The GCISD Special Services staff will host a Fall Social from 6-9
p.m. Monday for current Special Education students, graduates and
their families from GCISD, Carroll ISD, Northwest ISD, Keller ISD
and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD. Members of local support groups are
also invited to attend. The event will be at Paradise Cove on Lake
Grapevine, 3029 Midway Road in Southlake, courtesy of Tina Kirkpatrick-Hammond.
Entertainment will be provided courtesy of local vocalists The Andersons

Grapevine Middle 'mixes it up' during lunch
Students at Grapevine Middle will participate in “National
Mix It Up at Lunch” with various events planned during the
lunch periods this week to promote tolerance and acceptance of others.
Events include performances by GMS theater students, GMS jazz band
and the Pony Pride dance/drill team. Radio personalities from MIX
102.9 will be on hand Tuesday to entertain students and guest speaker
Max Glauben, a Holocaust survivor, will visit with eighth-graders

Cross Timbers Middle PTA hosts Internet safety program
Grapevine Police Sgt. Kim Smith will present "Protecting Your
Child from Internet Predators" at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Cross
Timbers Middle Lecture Hall. The program, hosted by the CTMS PTA,
will address common questions regarding Internet safety and discuss
the best practices to keep kids safe online. This program is
designed for parents and may not be suitable for younger audiences.
Therefore, it is recommended that parents make other arrangements

Timberline welcomes grandparents
Grandparents or special friends of Timberline Elementary students
are invited to visit their student's classroom on Friday. Students
have prepared special projects to show guests during their visit.
Visiting times vary depending on grade; please check with your student's

Cannon students to visit ‘Ice’
Cannon Elementary third-, fourth- and fifth-graders will visit the
Ice Sculpture exhibit at the Gaylord Texan on Friday through a partnership
with the school and Junior Achievement. Students will tour parts
of the hotel before visiting the ice exhibit. Information: 817-251-5503.
Grapevine
Elementary celebrates Heritage Day
Second- and third-grade students at Grapevine Elementary will present
a special tribute to the history of American musics as part of Heritage
Day activities beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Grandparents and special
guests are invited to come for the tribute and then stay to visit
classrooms. Information: 817-251-5735.
Heritage Elementary celebrates Colonial Day
Heritage Elementary fifth-graders will dress in colonial-period
clothing and present special performances on Friday as part of a
study of colonial times. Following the program, grandparents and
special guests will be invited to visit classrooms to participate
in heritage-based, language arts activities with their students.

Heritage Elementary, O.C. Taylor face off for G.R.A.C.E.
Teams of students, parents and staff members of Heritage and O.C.
Taylor elementary schools will compete in a friendly dodge ball
match-up from 4-6 p.m. Friday at Colleyville Middle School gym.
Spectators are asked to bring canned food items to support the G.R.A.C.E.
Thanksgiving food pantry. The teams will be led by former Texas
Rangers baseball stars Bobby Witt, who will lead the HES "Olympian"
team, and Rusty Greer, who will head up O.C. Taylor's "Hall

Upcoming Events
GCISD closed for holiday break
All GCISD campuses and administrative offices will be closed from
Nov. 19-23 for Thanksgiving break. All facilities will reopen on
Nov. 26 and classes will resume as scheduled.
Awards
and Announcements
Special Olympians medal in bowling tournament
Twenty-eight GCISD Special Olympians earned gold, silver or bronze
medals this past weekend at the Area 11 - Greater Fort Worth Special
Olympics Texas Bowling Tournament. Overall, GCISD was represented
by 49 athletes from nine campuses. Gold medal winners were: Brittany
Hilt, Colleyville Heritage High; Brendan McCullough, Glenhope Elementary;
Kelsey Wigginton, CHHS; Callahan Payne, Cannon Elementary; and Ashley
Holmblad, CHHS. In addition, 21 athletes earned top-10 ribbons at
the tournament.
Red Ribbon Week winners announced
Winners of the District-wide campus decoration contest and student
poster contest have been announced. In the campus contest, Colleyville
Middle won at the secondary level for its decorations that transformed
the school library into a drug education zone, while Dove Elementary
won in its division for incorporating the "WILD
about being drug free" theme with decorations and a student
pledge, "We Invest
in Living Drug
free." In the student poster contest, first-place winners for

GHS
Theater accepting donations of formal clothing
The Grapevine High Theater Department is accepting donations of
formal and dressy attire to be used in future theater productions.
Items needed include prom dresses, tuxedos, men's suits, bridal
and attendant gowns, capes, dress shirts, sport coats, vests, shoes
and hats. Also needed is clothing made of fabrics such as velvets,
brocades, lace and fake fur, and Halloween costumes, wigs, etc.,
can also be used. Donations may be dropped off at the GHS office,
or a pick-up can be arranged by calling 817-251-5279 or sending
an email to mustangtheatre@gmail.com.
Foundation awards mini-grants
The Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation Prize Patrol recently
awarded 15 mini-grants totaling $3,381 to fund projects for 10 GCISD
campuses. The complete list of mini-grant recipients for October
