PTSA presents parent program on teen parties
The
Colleyville Heritage High PTSA, in conjunction with Texas PTA and
Independent Insurance Agents of Texas, will present the parent program
"Party 101: Consequences" for middle and high school students
and their parents. The program is an informal presentation regarding
parent and teen consequences, responsibilities and liabilities when
hosting student parties with access to or consumption of alcohol.
Representatives of Texas PTA and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission
will be in attendance. The program is 6:30 p.m. Monday in the CHHS

GHS
PTSA presents program on college planning
The
Grapevine High PTSA will present "How to Plan for College"
for middle and high school students and their parents. Representatives
from local and state colleges and universities, college prep and
financial advisors will be on hand to provide information and answer
questions. The program is 7 p.m. Monday in the GHS Auditorium. Information:

GCISD College Night
GCISD
will host College Night for students and parents of Colleyville
Heritage and Grapevine high schools from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday
at CHHS. More than 100 representatives from colleges around the
nation are expected to be on hand to discuss their campuses and
answer questions. Financial aid workshops also will be conducted

GHS
plans meeting for ESL students, parents -- NEW!
The Grapevine High School ESL department will host a meeting for
its students in the English for Speakers of Other Languages program
and their parents and teachers. The meeting will allow parents to
meet the GHS staff, examine academic progress, and learn more about
student programs and college opportunities. The meeting will be
6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Regional Place Apartments Clubhouse, 3037

CHHS,
GHS Drumlines to perform exhibition
-- NEW!
The
Drumlines from the Grapevine High and Colleyville Heritage High
bands will present an exhibition concert beginning 7 p.m. Thursday
in the Cross Timbers Middle School Stadium. The concert is free
and open to the public, and is the final full performance of each
drumline's show prior to Saturday's 15th-annual Lone Star Classic
Drumline Contest, where more than 55 drumlines will compete in one
of the largest drumline competitions in the nation. On Saturday,
CHHS will perform at 9:12 p.m. and GHS will perform at 8:12 p.m.
The competition is open to the public and admission will be charged.

Final
GHS Corral planned
Corral,
a PTSA-sponsored party after home football games for Grapevine High
School students, will host its final gathering of the season on
Friday in the Student Activity Center and Gym 1 at GHS. The event
starts immediately after the GHS football game and ends at 12:30
a.m. All GHS students are encouraged to attend. A valid GCISD high
school ID is required to enter; guests from outside the District
will not be admitted. Admission is $5 per person and includes all

GHS Fillies host ‘Broadway’ fund-raiser
The Grapevine High Fillies dance team will host “Broadway
Meets Main Street” on Sunday at the Lancaster Palace Arts
Theater on Main Street in Grapevine. The fund-raiser features a
reception in Weem’s Alley and a “Taste of New York”
buffet dinner donated by PF Chang, Outback Steakhouse, Weinberger’s
Deli, Sweet Memories Catering, Main Street Bakery and Napoli’s
Restaurant. Guest will be treated to Broadway-style entertainment
and can participate in live and silent auctions. Tickets are $50

The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees will meet for its
regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Nov. 12 at the GCISD Administration

Special
Services to host multi-district Fall Social
The GCISD Special Services staff will host a Fall Social from 6-9
p.m. Nov. 12 for current Special Education students, graduates and
their families from GCISD, Carroll ISD, Northwest ISD, Keller ISD
and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD. Members of local support groups are
also invited to attend. The event will be at Paradise Cove on Lake
Grapevine, 3029 Midway Road in Southlake, courtesy of Tina Kirkpatrick-Hammond.

Grapevine Middle 'mixes it up' during lunch
Students at Grapevine Middle will participate in “National
Mix It Up at Lunch” with various events planned during the
lunch periods the week of November 12 to promote tolerance and acceptance
of others. Events include performances by GMS theater students,
GMS jazz band and the Pony Pride dance/drill team. Radio personalities
from MIX 102.9 will be on hand Tuesday to entertain students and
guest speaker Max Glauben, a Holocaust survivor, will visit with

Timberline welcomes grandparents
Grandparents or special friends of Timberline Elementary students
are invited to visit their student's classroom on Nov. 16. Students
have prepared special projects to show guests during their visit.

Cannon
students to visit ‘Ice’
Cannon Elementary third-, fourth- and fifth-graders will visit the
Ice Sculpture exhibit at the Gaylord Texan on Nov. 16 through a
partnership with the school and Junior Achievement. Students will
tour parts of the hotel before visiting the ice exhibit. Information:

Elementary celebrates Heritage Day
Second- and third-grade students at Grapevine Elementary will present
a special tribute to the history of American musics as part of Heritage
Day activities beginning at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 16. Grandparents and
special guests are invited to come for the tribute and then stay

Heritage Elementary celebrates Colonial Day
Heritage Elementary fifth-graders will dress in colonial-period
clothing on Nov. 16 as part of a study of colonial times. They will
participate in a “Walk through Williamsburg” where parents
will teach lessons that colonial children may have learned and will

GCISD closed for holiday break
All GCISD campuses and administrative offices will be closed from
Nov. 19-23 for Thanksgiving break. All facilities will reopen on
Nov. 26 and classes will resume as scheduled.

Fillies director named finalist for state title
Kay Lynn Renfro, director of the Grapevine High Fillies dance team,
has been selected as one of four finalists for the Texas Dance Education
Association Director of the Year. This award is nominated and selected
by her peers, which represent dance educators and dance team directors
from across Texas. The winner will be announced during the January

Fun Run raises money for students
Timberline Elementary students participated in the school’s
annual Boosterthon Fun Run on Nov. 1 at the school. Students in
kindergarten through fifth took part in the run, which raised funds
for field trips, educational programs and classroom equipment. The
annual fund-raiser is designed to encourage and motivate students
while promoting education, fitness and character. The fund-raiser

Taylor student to serve as ‘Mayor for a Day’
Nicholas Vella, a third-grader at O.C. Taylor Elementary, has been
chosen to serve as Mayor for a Day for the City of Colleyville.
He was selected based on his essay submitted for the annual contest.
On November 6, Nicholas will assist Mayor David Kelly in his duties,
including signing a proclamation, meeting with city officials and
