GCISD
exceeds federal standards for student performance, participation
Grapevine-Colleyville
ISD students exceeded standards in all components outlined in the
Adequate Yearly Progress Report released this month by the Texas
Education Agency. As a result, all GCISD campuses and the district
have met AYP requirements for 2007.
AYP
is a measure of student performance and participation included in
the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Under these provisions, all
public school campuses, school districts and the state are evaluated
and required to meet criteria on three measures: reading/language
arts, mathematics and either graduation rate for high schools and
districts or attendance rate for elementary and middle schools.
Student
performance and participation in both the math and reading portions
of state tests are evaluated for all students as a group and separately
for students in six categories – African American, Hispanic,
White, Economically Disadvantaged, Special Education and Limited
English Proficient.
For
2007, GCISD as a whole and each campus meeting the minimum size
criteria exceeded all standards overall and in each of the six student
categories for both performance and participation. A summary of
the breakdown is attached.
