Grapevine-Colleyville
Education Foundation announces Distinguished Friend Award Recipient
The Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation has selected John
T. Eubanks as the 2008 Distinguished Friend Award recipient.
The Distinguished Friend Award is bestowed upon an individual who
has demonstrated a commitment to the mission and vision of the Foundation.
Eubanks will be recognized at the Foundation’s “Celebrating
Our Stars” Academic Recognition Banquet, June 5 at the
Hilton DFW Lakes.
John T. Eubanks
has worked tirelessly to enhance the quality of education in GCISD.
Eubanks is a founding director of the Education Foundation with
service of over ten years. Eubanks is a major contributor to all
of the Foundation’s events and initiatives. He and his wife
Janis were one of the Foundation’s first endowment patrons.
This year they started another endowment with a gift of $52,500
to the foundation to perpetually honor the school district’s
Secondary Teacher of the Year with an annual grant of $2,500. Three
of their five children are graduates of GCISD schools and two are
educators. In addition to his service on the Foundation, he has
served on the GCISD Board of Trustees, two years as President; 2005
Bond Steering Committee; Tarrant County Appraisal District; and
on numerous other GCISD advisory committees.
"The Grapevine
Colleyville Education Foundation is an extension of our community
in support of our school district and in particular, our teachers
and students,” Eubanks said. “The effort and success
of this foundation is a function of our executive director, our
board of directors, our volunteers, donors, sponsors and district
administration working together to provide funding for grants and
programs not included in our district's normal operating budget."
Education
Foundation Executive Director Janice Kane said, “John is an
experienced and loyal leader and most interested in helping the
students and educators in GCISD. He has supported GCISD and the
Foundation both with his time, talents and financial resources.
His steady leadership has been instrumental in the tremendous growth
and success of the school district and the Foundation. John is a
true friend of GCISD and the Foundation and a most deserving recipient
of the Distinguished Friend Award.”
