Fifteen GCISD students go to state Reflections contest

Entries from 15 Grapevine-Colleyville ISD students from the Area #17 level of the 2007-2008 Arts Reflections Contest will advance to the state level of the contest and have the opportunity to compete in the national level of competition. A total of 41 students were winners of the GCISD Council of PTAs Reflections Contest and went on to be judged at the District/Area #17 level contest. From those 41, the 15 winners from GCISD were selected.

Over 900 students at the 17 elementary, middle and high schools in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD entered the 2007-2008 Arts Reflections Contest in six categories including dance choreography, film/video production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Each entry was originally judged at the schools in four levels on the interpretation of this year’s theme “I Can Make A Difference By…,” creativity and artistic merit.

Area #17 is comprised of 18 school districts including Birdville ISD, Carroll ISD, Castleberry ISD, Crowley ISD, Eagle Mountain-Saginaw, Era ISD, Everman ISD, Fort Worth ISD, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, Keller ISD, Lake Worth ISD, Lindsey ISD, Muenster ISD, Northwest ISD, Sivells Bend ISD, Slidell ISD and White Settlement.

Last year, Chris Daily's musical composition competed at the national level of the Arts Reflection contest. Daily, a senior at Grapevine High Schoo, has entered another musical competition this year.
