coach named head of district athletics, activities
GCISD’s
Board of Trustees at the July 30 meeting approved Tim Ford as director
of Athletics and Activities. With 30 years of education experience,
Ford has been in GCISD for 14 years, serving most recently as assistant
head coach/defensive coordinator, assistant track coach and biology
teacher at Colleyville Heritage High School. He served in similar
positions at Grapevine High School and Trinity High School in Euless.
“I
am very pleased that the District’s search for a full-time
athletic director has led us back to one of our own,” said
Steve Trachier, executive director of Administration. “Tim
is a man of character and integrity who genuinely wants all kids
to have a positive experience in school activities.”
Ford
earned a master’s degree in Education Administration from
East Texas State University (Texas A & M Commerce) and a bachelor’s
degree in Health/Physical Education from the University of Texas
at Arlington. He has coached and taught at the middle school, junior
high and high school levels, and has experience with athletic programs
at the 3A, 4A and 5A levels.
As
director of Athletics and Activities, Ford will direct and manage
the program of extracurricular and intramural athletics for the
District. His responsibilities include: compliance with state, University
Interscholastic League (UIL) and local requirements; management
of athletic fields and facilities; coordination of activities of
all head coaches; inventory and care of all athletic equipment;
and coordination of athletic booster club activities.
Ford
and his wife, Linda, who teaches elementary music at HEB ISD, have
three children – Sam, Ty and Cole.
