GCISD coach named head of district athletics, activities

GCISD’s Board of Trustees at the July 30 meeting approved Tim Ford as director of Athletics and Activities. With 30 years of education experience, Ford has been in GCISD for 14 years, serving most recently as assistant head coach/defensive coordinator, assistant track coach and biology teacher at Colleyville Heritage High School. He served in similar positions at Grapevine High School and Trinity High School in Euless.

“I am very pleased that the District’s search for a full-time athletic director has led us back to one of our own,” said Steve Trachier, executive director of Administration. “Tim is a man of character and integrity who genuinely wants all kids to have a positive experience in school activities.”

Ford earned a master’s degree in Education Administration from East Texas State University (Texas A & M Commerce) and a bachelor’s degree in Health/Physical Education from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has coached and taught at the middle school, junior high and high school levels, and has experience with athletic programs at the 3A, 4A and 5A levels.

As director of Athletics and Activities, Ford will direct and manage the program of extracurricular and intramural athletics for the District. His responsibilities include: compliance with state, University Interscholastic League (UIL) and local requirements; management of athletic fields and facilities; coordination of activities of all head coaches; inventory and care of all athletic equipment; and coordination of athletic booster club activities.

Ford and his wife, Linda, who teaches elementary music at HEB ISD, have three children – Sam, Ty and Cole.
