Top educators, paraprofessionals and auxiliary employees to be recognized on May 8

Teachers and paraprofessionals of the year for 2008-09 have been selected at each campus and will be honored at the Employee Recognition Reception on May 8, 4-6 p.m., at the Grapevine Convention Center.

Two District teachers of the year will be selected from this group and announced at the reception. Those two teachers, one elementary and one secondary, then will advance to the regional level, with an opportunity to continue on to the Texas Teacher of the Year competition. From the campus paraprofessionals of the year, one will be selected to receive the Carolyn Frank Award to be announced at the GCISD reception in May.

Three employees have been selected as Auxiliary employees of the year and will be recognized at the reception:

• Troy Trammell, Irrigation Tech - Facilities Services Auxiliary Employee of the Year
• Dennis O'Gorman, Driver/Trainer - Transportation Services Auxiliary Employee of the Year
• Ann Hunter, Colleyville Elementary School Cafeteria Manager - Nutrition Services Auxiliary Employee of the Year
  

These outstanding employees have been selected for a wide variety of positive traits and actions but ALL stand out as people who continuously put students first.
