2006-2007 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

MISSION:
To promote the health and welfare of the children in the school, the home and the community

GOAL: To encourage and promote parent volunteer participation at school and PTA activities

Objectives:

  • Inform parents and the community of the PTA mission
  • Increase awareness of PTA and school activities by communicating through the CMS Communicator, CMS Student Directory, and CMS Colt Courier
  • Recognize outstanding volunteer efforts
  • Assist school volunteer training that will stress safety, security and responsibility
  • Continue Campus Beautification efforts


GOAL: To create a working partnership among parents, teachers, school administration, business partners, GCISD, the community and the PTA

Objectives:

  • Encourage an atmosphere that will promote mutual respect and open communication
  • Inform CMS community of Campus Excellence Committee meetings and function
  • Communicate with faculty representative to the PTA Executive Board to strengthen communication between teachers and parents
  • Encourage teachers and staff to join PTA
  • Appoint a representative to attend School Board meetings and report on issues facing GCISD
  • Inform CMS community of Parent Advisory Forum meetings and function
  • Appoint a delegate who will represent the CMS PTA at the Council level
  • Sponsor back-to-school, holiday and faculty appreciation events for CMS staff
  • Encourage CMS students and parents to give back to their community


GOAL: To provide quality programs for CMS parents, students, teachers, and staff.

Objectives:

  • Provide informative programs at PTA meetings and seminars on topics that will serve needs of parents, students, staff, and teachers

GOAL: To enrich the lives of CMS students by increasing their exposure to and participation in the Fine Arts, Science, Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and related curriculum

Objectives:

  • Encourage student participation in the National PTA's annual Reflections program
  • Enhance the curriculum by using Cultural Arts groups to present programs to all students
  • Sponsor school membership in creative problem solving program
  • Coordinate geography bee with social studies faculty
  • Coordinate fall and spring book fairs with school librarian, teachers, and staff
  • Assist school nurse, teachers, and staff with issues affecting students’ health and safety
  • Sponsor student talent show, Cotillion and student socials
  • Support curriculum enhancement with Teacher Mini-Grants
  • Support academic school/CMS PTA sponsored clubs

GOAL: To keep fundraising appeals by the PTA at a reasonable level

Objectives:

  • Keep ‘fun’ in fundraising by sponsoring student socials with reasonable admission and concession prices
  • Sponsor a Greenbacks’ Fundraiser during Curriculum Night
