2006-2007 CMS PTA Volunteer Responsibilities

  1. Please sign-in at the school office before each volunteer assignment. (Keep a total of all of your volunteer hours outside of the school building.  Click here for the reporting form)
  2. Maintain confidentiality regarding any and all student records and behaviors. Never repeat grades, conversations, etc. that you may have heard concerning any child. This is required by law.
  3. Copying procedures – Chairmen of committees that require copies should place copy request in copy room at least 4 days prior to due date.
  4. Under NO circumstances is a child to be taken off of the school premises unless permission is given by campus administration.
  5. Appropriate language and attire MUST always be adhered to. Refer to the Parent / Student Handbook for specific dress code requirements.
  6. Never disagree or argue with a teacher / staff member in front of student(s).
  7. Never discuss any child, teachers, staff members, and / or parents in front of student(s).
  8. Please advise the school if you are unable to come during your scheduled volunteer time. Scheduled activities are based on volunteer commitments.
  9. Please DO NOT bring preschoolers with you when you are volunteering in the school (classroom, office, library, field trips, socials, etc.).
  10. Discipline of students is the responsibility of school personnel. Notify the teacher and / or campus administration of any behavior concerns. They will handle all situations / concerns as outlined in campus policy.
  11. Be flexible, enthusiastic and maintain your sense of humor.
  12. Understand that every task performed in the school is important to the education of every child.
  13. Respect and adhere to individual school policies and procedures.
  14. Remember that the school workplace and learning environment is not the appropriate place or time to discuss campus personnel, individual students and/or parents. Keep personal comments regarding these persons away from the school environment.
  15. All volunteers must view the training information prior to volunteering in any way at school. If you are unable to attend a training meeting, the information may be viewed at the school library. All volunteers must sign the form acknowledging viewing of the training information. Teachers will check the form to insure volunteers have signed before asking parents for help.
