Principal’s Perspective
The Road Ahead

Each year as I compose my thoughts for this final article to be submitted to the PTA Newsletter, I find myself reflecting upon how each year seems to pass just a little faster than the one before.  Every year has certain milestones, events, and activities that serve as reminders to keep us on pace for all that has to be done to complete the school year.  However, this year all of those activities that are normally anticipated are now coupled with the daunting task of completely moving everything from the campus in order for renovations to occur this summer.  Although it should be exciting to return to a campus that is practically brand-new, the road ahead is one we have not traveled before and brings with it many new twists and turns.  We are confident that all of the extra efforts will be well worth it when we return to our updated campus!

We appreciate all of the support we have already received from parent volunteers who are helping us to address this process of packing and moving in a systematic and step-by-step manner.  We are so blessed by the wonderful volunteers who help our students and staff in so many ways throughout the year.  Each year our staff welcomes the opportunity to express their gratitude to our volunteers for all of their help.  This year we plan to say “Thank you” through a special reception that our staff will host on Field Day.  Our plans are to provide refreshments within the building for all of the volunteers to enjoy while they are on campus supporting their students in this special day of fun in the sun!

We also want to thank everyone who took a moment to give us further insight into their students as we prepared to begin building classes for next year.  Beginning this process a bit earlier than we have in the past has allowed us the opportunity to consider more possibilities in order to be better prepared for the future.  One very practical result of this additional time and effort is that we believe that we should be even better prepared for any eventuality that may arise at the last minute and potentially impact our staffing ratio (and, in turn, class placement).  We want to offer our assurances to everyone well in advance that incredible amounts of time and effort will be invested into ensuring that numerous factors will be considered when making these decisions and making plans in case a change occurs shortly before the new school year begins.

Although we may look in the rear-view mirror of time and feel as if time has flown away at mach speed, we continue to look forward, to prepare, and to make adjustments as we learn from each experience we encounter throughout the school year.  There will always be new experiences and new lessons to learn each and every day.  That is one reason why it is so important that we continue to learn from our past so that we can plan and prepare for our future while never losing sight of the value and importance of treasuring the gift of the present!  Thank you for your partnership, your support, and encouragement as we continue to help our Stars to shine as brightly as they possibly can for years to come!  Have a safe and enjoyable summer!
