HES kindergarten classes are designed to provide academic, social, physical and emotional growth in a safe, stimulating environment. Literacy experiences include phonemic and phonological awareness, interactive and individual writing, and reading instruction in large and small groups. Our math program offers children opportunities to explore and experience mathematical principles through practical application,exploration and guided activities. Throughout the day, a wide variety of manipulatives are used for lessons and independent practice in all curriculum areas. Teachers approach instruction with an emphasis on student inquiry, higher level thinking and problem solving skills.
