PE Rules

The following information will help you understand what is expected of your child in Physical Education. To help your child have a successful year in Physical Education, we have developed the following guidelines:

We will be using Positive Discipline in P.E. which gives every student guidance in making good decisions about his or her behavior and an opportunity to learn in a positive, nurturing classroom environment. Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible for his or her growth, and we know together we will make a difference in this process. The plan below outlines the responsibilities of Timberline students and how students will be able to solve their problems.

Timberline Students will be respectful of people and property by:
1. Listening and speaking at appropriate times and places
2. Keeping hands, feet, objects and hurtful comments to self
3. Following directions
4. Being responsible and prepared for class activity
5. Using supplies and equipment as intended at the appropriate time and stay on task.
6. Help make P.E. fun by not disrupting the teaching and learning process

Students will be given the opportunity to solve their own problems through dialogue with those involved; choices will be offered; and students will then have the opportunity to solve their problem. Parents will be notified by note when the student has made the choice not to solve their problem. The parent note should be signed and returned to P.E. the following day. This will be documented on the weekly classroom discipline record. Depending on the nature of the problem, natural consequences may follow such as loss of privilege to work with the group. Severe behavior may result in a discipline referral to the office.
