Welcome to Texas History for the 2014-15 school year!  This is the beginning of my 25th year to teach and my 5th year to teach at HMS.  HMS is a great school with great students and a great staff; I love working here!  Last spring I was honored to have been named the VFW Post 10454 Teacher of the Year and the VFW District 21 Teacher of the Year.  I was also the HMS Teacher of the Year for 2013-14 school year.  And, I was honored to have received both the Rising Star Award and the PTA Friend of the Children Award in 2012-13.

My Texas teaching certifications are:  Lifetime (generalist) for grades 1-8, Social Studies for grades 4-8, ELA for grades 4-8, Gifted and Talented, and PE and Health for grades 1-8.

I am from Abilene, TX and a graduate of Texas Tech University.  I have taught in Alief ISD (Houston), Amarillo ISD, and Humble ISD (in Kingwood, TX...Houston) as well as in GCISD.  We made the decision in 2008 to move to Colleyville from Kingwood in order to be closer to family; it's been a great move for us.

My husband, Richard, is a petroleum engineer at Pioneer Natural Resources.  We have 3 great kids.  Our oldest child, Brian, just finished his medical residency in Radiology.  He is currently in Rochester, NY doing a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology.  After he finishes his Fellowship, his training will be complete and he will begin to practice medicine...at 32 years of age!  Our second child, Jennifer, just completed her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College  (outside of Chicago).  She just completed an internship in Hershey, PA at a psychiatric hospital working primarily with children.  In September, she will begin the last year of her training by doing her Post Doctoral Fellowship in Hartford, CT.  Our youngest child, Melissa, just completed her Master's Degree in Special Education at Texas Women's University.  She and her husband live in Denton and Melissa works for Denton ISD.  They also own New York Sub Hub in Denton.

We have 2 dachshunds named Lily and Oliver and a cat named Riley.

In my spare time, I love to watch sports (especially soccer) and HGTV, to read and to spend time with my wonderful family!
