This is going to be an exciting and successful school year for everyone! We love P.E. and Health and will do our best to help our students love it too. We want every child to care and respect their body and enjoy learning about how to keep themselves healthy and fit for their entire life. Our philosophy is that you only get ONE body for your whole life, so it's never too early to learn how to take care of it!
The EASIEST way to be successful in P.E., is to wear tennis shoes EVERY DAY!
*K-2nd grade students have P.E. EVERYDAY. They need to wear or bring tennis shoes EACH DAY!
**3rd-5th graders have it alternating Mon./Wed./Fri. or Tues./Thurs./Fri.
Students will find out their P.E. days within the first week of school.
Wearing their tennis shoes will ensure the safety and success of each child. This is per GCISD policy.
1. District policy requires all children to wear TENNIS SHOES in Physical Education for their own safety. When students fail to wear tennis shoes, we send notes, reminders and eventually grades will get lowered if it becomes a repetitive problem.
2. In order to be considered "tennis shoes" they must meet certain requirements: shoes that stay tied, remain on the feet, have closed toes and have white or scuff-proof soles. Sandals, heeled shoes of any kind (ankle breakers), boots, cleated shoes, dress shoes, shoes with rollers, crocs, and slip-on shoes that easily come off, will not be allowed. If your child's shoes will not stay on when running or could be a possible danger to themselves or others, students will not be able to participate that day in P.E.
3. If your child does not want to wear their tennis shoes to school, please send them in their backpack and remind them to change before they go to Specials classes each day. This means your child will need REMEMBER to change their shoes before they go to SPECIALS classes, be able to put on and tie their own shoes each day. They will not have an opportunity to go back to the classroom to get them if they forget.
Our goal is to make sure the kids remain active and practice healthy eating habits. We will discuss healthy eating habits, drinking lots of water and avoiding sugar.
We offer a Girls Fitness Club and a Boys Fitness Club in the Fall and Spring for 3rd-5th graders.
We will participate in Boosterthon in September and a JDRF Walk in February.
We will have our annual Field Day in May!
We will send information home about all of these events, as they get closer.
Please remember to send a note from home or from the doctor should your child need to be excused from any physical activity. **Also, know that any reason they need to miss P.E. for the day, also means they must sit out of recess. This is all per GCISD policy. Please send the note with your child to give to their homeroom teacher also so that they do not further injure themselves at recess. Should you have any questions or concerns you can reach us at the school. 817-305-4860 ext. 2473
We are looking forward to another FUN and ACTIVE year with our students!
