    Welcome to Mrs. Visser's page!
It is very important to me that I get to know all of my students and their families.  Here is a little bit about me.
I grew up in Abilene, Texas.  I received my bachelor's degree from Hardin-Simmons University.  While studying abroad in Salzburg, Austria for six months during my third year I met my husband! I received my master's degree from The University of Central Oklahoma while living there and teaching at Tinker Air Force Base.  Ten years ago we moved back to fabulous Texas and I have been teaching in GCISD ever since!  I completed my principal certification from Lamar University in June and joined the wonderful staff at CMS to teach seventh grade ELA and could not be more excited!  I also have the honor of joining athletics as a co-cheer sponsor this year!
My daughter, Sofie, is a fun, outgoing fifth grader at O.C. Taylor and cheers at Spirit Xtreme.  I always introduce our miniature poodle as T-Bone, the girl dog. Sofie was naming her dog T-Bone no matter what!
My husband, Christiaan, deserves major credit for putting up with all of us girls with the most love and patience I've ever seen.
    Educational Philosophy
I am a passionate educator and huge advocate for the Whole Child, Student Voice, Student Design, and Empowering our Learners of all ages!  I believe ALL children deserve to be challenged academically, supported socially and emotionally, and can do amazing things if we listen to their needs and meet them where they are.  I am a learner, constantly seeking growth and improvement.  My mission is to instill the love of learning in every single child.
