I am thrilled to be back as the Gifted and Talented Specialist at Silver Lake Elementary School this year! This is my third year at SLE and my nineteenth year in education.  Before I came to SLE, I taught first grade at Grapevine Elementary School for three years. I had a cluster of gifted students in my classroom and pulled a group of gifted and high achieving students daily during our school's Response to Intervention time. Prior to teaching at GES, I taught reading and English at Lamar Middle School in Irving and fifth grade at Rausch Intermediate School in Ravenna, Ohio. What I enjoy most about teaching is spending time with kids, witnessing my students’ growth over the course of the year and making a difference in children’s lives. All students have the right to learn and be challenged daily.
I grew up in Kent, Ohio, and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I am currently enrolled at Hardin-Simmons University and am working toward a Masters Degree in Gifted Education. I have lived in Texas for the past seventeen years. My husband and I moved with our children to Grapevine eight years ago, as we were aware of the excellent reputation of GCISD. I couldn’t be happier with our decision; I am inspired by the dedication of the teachers, administration and parents in GCISD. My daughter, Evie, is twelve years old, and my son, Andre, is ten. Both are students in the ASPIRE Academy. My step-daughter, Kourtney, is twenty-two and will graduate from Texas A&M in December.
I value the importance of parental involvement in education and am looking forward to working with each of you this year. Please feel free to contact me throughout the year with joys or concerns.
