About Nutrition Services

GCISD students are served a wide variety of meals that are nutritionally sound, as well as delicious.  Meals are analyzed for nutritional content and meet the RDA for each age/grade level.  Student/parent input is utilized annually and menu adjustments are often made. Healthy snack choices are provided and nutrition education classes are part of the GCISD curriculum.

GCISD Nutrition Services department is self-supported by the money from meals and other items sold in campus cafeterias.  Healthy eating habits are formed early in life and can provide a strong foundation for the eating habits we adopt as adults. Students at GCISD are encouraged to make daily food choices that emphasize fruits, vegetables, whole grains, milk products and lean sources of protein.

GCISD's Nutrition Services staff prepares more than 11,000 meals each day for the students and promotes healthy eating choices.  Our goal is to help your child feel better today and stay healthy for tomorrow.  We hope that students will make smart choices from every food group, find a balance between food and physical activity and get the most nutrition out of their calories.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve your child this school year.
