Weather Updates

  • Weather Update for Friday, February 27
    The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Tarrant County. NWS is forecasting another storm system that is expected to bring snow to North Texas on Friday, February 27, with temperatures remaining in the upper 20s through the afternoon. GCISD personnel have already begun monitoring weather conditions and making necessary plans. Based on reports from local emergency agencies, morning commutes are not expected to be affected by this storm. Afternoon commutes, as well as after school and weekend activities, may be impacted by the weather. Please watch the district website and social media for updates. Thank you, and please drive safely.   • Cheer Tryout Tumbling Certification Changes
     
    Due to the cancellation of school, we are rescheduling our Tumbling Certification scheduled for this evening at CHHS.
     
    We will offer the following Tumbling Certifications:
     
    * Wednesday at GHS in the Cheer Gym from 4-6 pm
    * Thursday at CHHS in the Cheer/Dance Gym from 4-6 pm
     
    Candidates are welcome to come to either session to obtain their tumbling certification. 
    We are not limiting grades to a specific session this year due to the weather rescheduling.

  • STAAR End of Course Testing Late Start Days

    There will be a late start at CHHS on the following dates due to STAAR (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness) End of Course testing.  Students that are testing will report to school at the normal start times.  Students not testing are asked to report to school at 11:45 am.  The schedule of tests is below:


    March 30 --English I for all 9th graders and retesters

    April 1--English II for all 10th graders and retesters

    May 5--US History for all 11th graders and retesters 

        Biology for 9th graders in Biology and retesters

    May 6--Algebra I for 9th graders in Algebra and retesters

  • National Merit Finalists

    Colleyville Heritage High School 10 students to the next level of achievement in the National Merit Scholars Program.

    The following students have been named National Merit Finalists:
    Souvik Banerjee
    Olivia Blac
    Tausif Faizullah
    Nicholas Lunceford
    Elizabeth MacGregor
    Chase McClendon
    John Moynihan
    Austin Perona
    Graham Reitz
    Kevin Supakkul 
     
    The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for not only recognition, but also scholarships. Students enter this competition by taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Across the U.S., 50,000 students with the highest scores qualify for recognition in the program. In September, these students are notified as either Commended or National Merit Semifinalists--only about 16,000 students reach the Semifinalist level. 
     
    In February, 15,000 of the Semifinalists are announced as Finalists in the program. All winners of the scholarship awards are selected from the Finalist group. Students are evaluated based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.

  • Winterguard Competition Results

    Congratulations to the CHHS Varsity and JV Winterguard teams for their success at the North Texas Colorguard Associations Regional Competition Feb. 6. 

    The Varsity team placed 1st in the Guard Scholastic A division. 
    The Junior Varsity team placed 6th in the Guard Scholastic Regional A division.

    The senior class of 2015 will be selling cookie dough from February 20th through March 6th in order to raise money for prom.

    Seniors can win the following sales awards:

  • SAT & ACT Camps

    Registration is now open for the SAT Boot Camp on Saturday, Feb. 21 offered at CHHS by the AP Booster Club. The ACT Boot Camp will be Saturday, March 21. Registration and informationhttp://chhsapboosters.com.

  • Arena Scheduling

    After students have inputted their course selections by the Feb. 16 window (see above), students will schedule their courses for the 2015-2016 school year during their grade-level time window. (After course selection occurs,students with schedule errors or concerns may only submit one change request form online during the following adjustment windows: Window 1: June 8-12; and Window 2: August 3-6.) The online scheduling windows below open at 7:30 a.m. and close at midnight.  See this website for the Arena Scheduling timeline: http://www.gcisd-k12.org/arena.   • Course Selections
     
    It’s time to plan your classes for next year. All students will receive classroom guidance from counselors on course selection for 2015-2016. (Counselors will visit 8th graders at middle schools Feb. 9-13.) Students have through Monday, Feb. 16 to input their course requests and electives online (similar to last year).

    No changes to requests will be accepted after the Feb. 16 deadline.

  • Dual Meeting

     Students interested in Dual Credit classes for next year must attend one mandatory informational meeting with a TCC representative. (Dual classes are taught at CHHS by a TCC instructor and count as high school AND college credit.) Qualifications to enroll include GPA, attendance, work ethic, and test scores. Students and parents can attend any of the three meetings listed below. An attendance record will be kept of who attends the meetings. Look for more information on CHHS website soon: http://www.gcisd-k12.org/Page/26625. The three possible meeting dates are:
    • 1st chance: Parent University at CHHS at 7p.m. Monday, Feb. 9;
    • 2nd chance: at​ GHS at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb.11;
    • 3rd chance: at CHHS at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.

  • 2015-2016 Dual Classes
     
    Those students who are interested in Dual classes for next year will need to attend one mandatory informational meeting with our representative from TCC. Dual classes are taught on our campus by a TCC instructor and count as High School AND college credit.

    Students and parents can attend any of the three meetings and an attendance record will be kept for those wishing to sign up for Dual classes.
