  • CHHS Earns Top Spot in National Top High School List

GCISD schools have once again earned ranking spots among national programs, such as U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools and the Washington Post's Most Challenging High Schools lists.

U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 21,000 public high schools across the nation to compile the 2015 rankings, which are based on state proficiency standards and how well the school prepares students for college. Colleyville Heritage High School is listed at #472, earning a Gold Level Recognition, and Grapevine High School is #606 nationally, earning a Silver Level Recognition in the report.

In state rankings, CHHS and GHS ranked #55 and #71, respectively. Advanced Placement coursework is one of the measures evaluated for the ranking system and both GCISD schools have strong participation in this program.

GHS and CHHS each made the  Washington Post's Most Challenging High School list. CHHS is 263 and GHS is ranked 425, out of more than 2,300 high schools across the U.S.

The Washington Post evaluates schools on the number of Advanced Placement tests taken compared to the number of graduating seniors at each school.

"In GCISD, we are working to provide college readiness opportunities for all of our students," Dr. Rick Westafall, chief learning officer. "This focus is driven by our strategic plan, LEAD 2021, and implemented by fantastic teachers and staff across the district. It is through our strategic plan that innovative programs, such as STEM at Cannon, our high school Go Centers and the GCISD early college high school (the GCISD Collegiate Academy at Tarrant County College Northeast), have been created and carried out to provide a variety of opportunities for all students to stay focused on life beyond graduation."

  • Gmail Issues

Since changing to Gmail we've had some parents report that they can email their child's teacher but can't reply to an email from the same teacher. They receive a bounce-back that the mail is spam. We realized that nearly every user reporting this problem is a Verizon customer. After much troubleshooting with Google and Verizon it was determined that the problem was the mail setup on the user's end and they simply need to change the outgoing server setting on their device and/or mail client.
