Familiar face named Cross Timbers Middle School principal

Current Cross Timbers Middle School Assistant Principal Alex Fingers has been named the new leader of the Wolf Pack. Trustees named Fingers as the principal during their regular meeting on Monday, July 25, 2016.

Alex “I look forward to continuing my service in this new role as principal to the CTMS Wolf family,” Fingers said. “We have great students, staff, parents, and a supportive GCISD community and I know great things are to come from the Wolves as we strive to move forward the “Wolf Way”.”

The search for a new principal for CTMS began this summer when Lisa Dunn accepted the position of Director of Elementary Services in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. Input from campus and community representatives was solicited to determine the desired qualifications and characteristics of a new principal for CTMS.

Before serving as assistant principal at Cross Timbers Middle School, Fingers taught for five years in Dallas ISD at Longfellow Academy Middle School where he was voted Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy Teacher of the Year by his peers. He also spent three years at Horace Mann Magnet middle School in Little Rock, AR.

Fingers graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with his bachelor’s degree in middle school education while playing point guard for the Trojans from 1999-2001. He also earned his master’s degree from Lamar University in educational administration.

“One of the things we pride ourselves on in GCISD is our commitment to cultivating future campus leaders through mentoring and enhanced professional development opportunities,” said GCISD Superintendent Dr. Robin Ryan. “During his time at CTMS, Alex Fingers has proven that he is a dedicated instructional leader committed to improving campus performance and we are excited to continue to support him in his new leadership role.”

He will begin his new role on July 26, 2016.
