Students and staff across GCISD say 'Thank You' to Veterans
Campuses across the district will hold special assemblies, performances and receptions to honor U.S. Veterans. Many students will invite family members who have served or currently serve in the U.S. Armed Forces to take part in these celebrations.
Bear Creek Elementary School
Nov. 11 - Veterans Assembly (weather permitting) and Choir Performance at 1:45 p.m.
Bransford Elementary School
Nov. 11 - Veteran's Day Program
8:30 am: Second graders performed for Veterans and guests. Students then lined hallways and cheered for the Veterans. A reception followed the celebration.
Cannon Elementary School
Nov. 11 - Veteran's Day Program
8:30 am: Cannon Cubs celebrated Veterans by singing the Armed Forces Medley. Following the music program, all veterans were then invited to visit the classrooms and read to students.
Colleyville Elementary School
Nov. 12 - The Fifth Grade Veterans' Day Program at 7 p.m.
Dove Elementary School
Nov. 11 - Veterans Day Activities
Starting at 11 a.m., Dove took part in a variety of Veterans Day activities and celebrations. Events included a hallway parade, Facetime with a Vietnam Veteran, writing ‘thank you’ letters to veterans, and more.
Glenhope Elementary School
Nov. 6 - Students and staff celebrated all Veterans through a special assembly.
Grapevine Elementary School
Nov. 11 - Students wore red, white and blue and wrote "Thank-you" letters to Veterans.
Nov. 20 - Heritage Day, a time-honored tradition at Grapevine Elementary School. Students may invite their grandparents and/or special guests to attend the celebration. The activities include individual classroom projects and a second and third grade musical performance. The program will begin at 8:15, and will be video streamed to classrooms for guests to watch.
Heritage Elementary School
Nov. 11 - 15th Annual Veterans Day Celebration
Veterans and current members of the military were recognized. The morning program also included musical performances by all students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The celebration concluded with a "Parade of Veterans" around the front circle. Following the celebration, veterans and military members were invited to visit the classrooms to share their personal stories.
O.C. Taylor Elementary School
Nov. 11- Veterans Day Program
3rd and 4th grade students sang patriotic songs for honored Veterans attending the program. Students listened to U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Zureikat and U.S. Army Colonel Critz, relatives of current O.C. Taylor students. A reception was for all Veterans and their families in the library after the program.
Silver Lake Elementary School
Nov. 10 - Veterans Day Assembly
The Silver Lake choir performed patriotic music and lead the student body in singing patriotic music. Family members or friends of the community were invited to attend the celebration in uniform. Silver Lake also displayed its Wall of Honor with pictures of any family member currently serving or has previously served in the military. Students and staff also wore red, white and blue to celebrate the day.
Timberline Elementary School
Nov. 12 - Veterans Day Program
8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
There will be a wall of honor displayed in the school
Veterans will address students in morning announcements the week of Nov. 9-13
Colleyville Middle School
Nov. 11 - Veterans Day Program at 2:42 in the North Gym
Guest speaker will include Achilles Kozakis, World War II Army Airforce.
Cross Timbers Middle School
Nov. 11 - Veterans Day Program
Cross Timbers hosted a special program to honor Veterans. Immediately following, Veterans and their families were invited to a reception in the library.
Grapevine Middle School
Nov. 11 - Veterans Day Program/Presentation
1:45 - 2:15 p.m. - Reception for Veterans and their families in Cafeteria. Cookies and Punch will be served.
2:15 - 3:25 p.m. - Veterans Day Program in Gym / Sponsored by the GMS Fine Arts Dept.
Heritage Middle School

Colleyville Heritage High School
Nov. 11 - “A Tribute to Our Veterans” Veterans Day Assembly
Students, staff and guests heard from Senior Airman Scott Palomino (USAF Retired) during the morning ceremony.
Grapevine High School
Nov. 11 - “A Tribute to Veterans” Veterans Day Assembly
The morning opened with a Red Carpet Walk of Honor where students lined up to welcome veterans. The school then hosted a special assembly and program, followed by a Veterans' Breakfast and Dedication Ceremony in the Veterans Memorial Garden.
