More than 100 school, civic and community groups were represented this year in the annual Grapevine Parade of Lights on December 6. The Dove Elementary School Dad's Club and the Silver Lake Elementary School Dad's Club and Choir tied for first place in the parade float competition. The third spot went to the Dad's Club for Cannon Elementary.
This year during the parade, the community was treated to a special appearance of the only New York City Fire Department fire engine that survived the 9-11 terrorist attacks and rescue efforts. The NYFD engine helped lead the parade, following behind the Grapevine Fire Department Honor Guard. Parade-goers also had a special visit from the North Pole's most famous resident, Santa!
Here are the complete results of this year's Parade of Lights:
- First Place (TIE): Dove Elementary School Dad's Club and Silver Lake Elementary Dad's Club and Choir
- Third Place: Cannon Elementary Dad's Club
- Fourth Place: Lion's Club Float
- Judge's Merit Award: North Texas Basset Hound Rescue
- Best Marching Group: Grapevine High School Band
Congratulations to these winners and thank you to all the participants in this year's Parade of Lights!
