GHS teacher named Teacher of the Year by local VFW

Grapevine High School (GHS) teacher Gail Kohn was named Teacher of the Year by the VFW POST #10454. Kohn was reecognized at a Post Awards Ceremony on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Grapevine VFW POST (#10454).

VFW Posts across the U.S. select a local Teacher of the Year for this honor. The local honorees advance to the district, region and finally national level of awards. Kohn was nominated for this award by two past GCISD honorees: Jane Boyd and Debbie Cullum.

"I am very honored by this award and will be privileged to share a stage with them," said Kohn.

Kohn consistently supports U.S. military forces for Veterans Day. She also invited two veterans to come speak to her classes during Constitution Week. The veterans discussed the Constitution and free enterprise with the students.

"Because [veterans] have served our country, I can freely and safely serve our students," said Kohn.
