Principal named for Colleyville Middle School

Dr. David Arencibia, current assistant principal at Grapevine Middle School, has been named principal of Colleyville Middle School (CMS).

David “We are excited to announce Dr. Arencibia as the new principal at Colleyville Middle School,” said Dr. Ryan. “He has a comprehensive educational background as an administrator, teacher and coach at both the middle and high school level and we look forward to his contributions to the Colt community.”

Dr. Arencibia has 15 years of education experience beginning in 2001 as a Spanish teacher in Kaufman ISD. Throughout his career he has also taught Spanish, physical education and history in Lancaster, Irving and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, while also serving as a baseball and football coach in those districts. He experienced administrative responsibilities as an intern, vice principal and administrative substitute before becoming the Grapevine Middle School assistant principal in 2014.

Dr. Arencibia received his bachelor’s in Spanish from Harding University, a master’s in education from Texas A&M University and his doctorate of education from Walden University.

The search for a new Colleyville Middle School principal began last summer when David Denning was named the principal at Grapevine High School. After a thorough search, district officials felt it was in the best interest of students and staff to begin the school year with a leader in place. It was at that time that Ryan Martin, current Grapevine High School associate principal, was named the interim principal for the 2015-2016 school year.

“When we needed an established leader to help during this transition period, Mr. Martin stepped into that role with a sense of pride and responsibility to the CMS students, staff and community and for that we are incredibly thankful,” said GCISD Superintendent Dr. Robin Ryan. “We are excited that Mr. Martin has accepted the role of Director of Facility Use for GCISD so that he may continue to serve our students and families across the district.”

Dr. Arencibia will begin his new role on July 18.
