Choir teacher named for Grapevine High School

headshot At the Monday, May 23 GCISD Board of Trustees meeting, Clorese Porter was approved as the new head choir director for Grapevine High School (GHS).

Porter joins GHS from Clark High School in Plano where she has served as the choir director since 2012. Under her direction, the choirs have earned consistent sweepstakes awards at UIL concerts and sight reading competitions. Additionally, Porter has served as the musical director for annual musicals including productions of “Grease”, “Singing in the Rain” and “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”.

In addition to her campus responsibilities, Porter serves in leadership roles on various regional and state organizations and in 2010 was presented with the Texas Choral Directors Association Young Director Award.

"We could not be more excited to have Mrs. Porter join our team of choir directors here in GCISD,” said GCISD Director of Fine Arts Patrick Antinone. “Having mentored under some of the very best in our professional community, she brings a wealth of experience and talent that will benefit our students for years to come. Her student-centered approach to instruction and dynamic vision for the future of the program made her the natural choice to be the next leader for the choirs at Grapevine High School."

Porter, who received her bachelor’s in music education from Texas Christian University, will join the Mustang choirs this fall.
