2001 - 2002 MUSTANG BAND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Semester 1
• GHS Music Dept. Earns Grammy Signature School Award
• Marched and performed at 12 GHS Varsity Football games
• Marched in the Tx. Football Kick Off Classic-Alamobowl, San Antonio
• Marched at Grapevine H.S. Homecoming & Holiday Parades
• 5 GHS Band Members earned a position in the All Region Jazz Band
• 99 band members named “Outstanding Band Members of the Week”
• Competed in the Carrollton Farmers Branch T.O.C. Marching Contest
• Worked three races/sold programs at the Texas Motor Speedway
• Competed in the Plano East Marching Invitational Contest
• First division rating at the U.I.L. Region Marching Contest - performed “New Century Dawn” by David Gillingham
• Advanced to the U.I.L. Area Marching Band Contest
• Advanced to the U.I.L. State Preliminary Marching Band Contest
• Advanced to the U.I.L. State Marching Band Contest Finals
• Third Place / Bronze Medalist - U.I.L. State Marching Band Contest
• Drumline competed in the Lone Star & Plano Drumline Contests
• 27 GHS Band members earned a position in the All Region Orchestra
• Fall Jazz Band Concert with guest artist Joel Fountain
• GHS Bands perform Holiday Music Concert

Semester 2

• 57 GHS Band members earned a position in the All Region Band
• 27 GHS Band members advance to the Area competition
• Performed in Fine Arts Department musical “Scarlet Pimpernel”
• 5 GHS Band Members make the Texas All State Band
• 2 GHS Band Members Earn Grammy Jazz Ensemble positions
• 110 GHS Band members earn a First Division @ GCISD Solo and Ens.
• GHS Bands perform Contemporary Music Concert
• 7 GHS Band members earn a 1st Division medal at UIL Solo and Ens.
• Percussionist present 5th annual “Percussion Bash” concert
• GHS Jazz Band earned 1st place/Best In Class at T.C.U. Jazz Festival
• GHS Concert Band earns a first division at UIL Concert/Sightreading
• GHS Symph. Band earns a sweepstakes at UIL Concert/Sightreading
• GHS Honors Band earns a sweepstakes at UIL Concert/Sightreading
• GHS Wind Ensemble earns a sweepstakes at UIL Concert/Sightreading
• Band Spring trip to “MusicFest Orlando” Concert Band Festival
