The 50th Anniversary Celebration of the consolidation of Grapevine and Colleyville schools was attended by more than 350 people, including former superintendents and board members, current city and community leaders, employees, students and parents. History was made as the Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine high school bands joined together to perform the National Anthem, and seven GCISD superintendents were present for the big event.

City of Grapevine Mayor William D. Tate and City of Colleyville Mayor David Kelly participated in the program, each presenting proclamations recognizing GCISD's history and contributions to the growth of the area. U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant presented Superintendent Robin Ryan with a flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol and a copy of a proclamation about GCISD that he will enter into the Congressional Record. State Representative Vicki Truitt was present to honor GCISD, as was Carolyn Sims on behalf of Tarrant County Commissioner Gary Fickes.
