What’s the fastest way to share a Wi-Fi password with visiting friends and family? You can write it down and bring it in on a piece of paper, but that’s not very secure. And setting up a Wi-Fi network for guests can be difficult. Fortunately, there are ways to quickly share these credentials without harming your network. Here’s how to do it from an iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android device, and Windows PC.

Apple makes it a seamless process, as long as you have an iPhone, iPad or Mac and everything is set up correctly. To share your Wi-Fi password, both devices must be turned on and signed into iCloud with their Apple IDs. The email address of each of them should be saved in ‘Contacts’.
Ways To Hack Proof Your Smartphone
After meeting these requirements, bring both devices into Bluetooth and Wi-Fi range and make sure the sharing device is unlocked and connected to the network. Select a network to share a device without internet and a message should appear on the screen of the sharing device. Tap Share password to give another device access to the Wi-Fi network.
Android devices share Wi-Fi passwords by generating a QR code, so Apple devices can also receive login credentials this way. To share and retrieve passwords, your Android device must be running Android 10 or later. Make sure you are connected to the network you want to share, then open Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi or equivalent on your phone.
The selected network should have a gear icon next to the network name. Tap the gear and then select the QR code icon at the bottom of the screen. A unique QR code will be generated, which you can save on your phone or share with a contact.
A network connection is shared when another person opens their phone’s camera and scans the QR code. All they have to do is open their Wi-Fi settings and touch the pop-up message to connect to the network.
Do you need internet QR code scanners are included in most smartphones today, but you can also go to the Wi-Fi settings page. Here you will find a small QR code icon at the top of the page that allows you to scan the code after one click.
For devices that can’t generate QR codes or use Apple’s Wi-Fi sharing method, use a free QR code generator to share passwords. You can find plenty of tools with a quick Google search; Just make sure it supports Wi-Fi data. For this demo, I’m using a QR code generator (opens in a new window), but QiFi.org (opens in a new window) focuses primarily on Wi-Fi codes, while Qrafter (opens in new window) Ios one is free. Application
You just have to select the Wi-Fi setting (if there is more than one mode), then enter the SSID (network name) and password. You may also need to enter a security type, so check your device’s Wi-Fi settings if you don’t already know. Once you have entered all the information, click Generate to generate the code.
At this point, QR codes can be used with any device with a built-in scanner or mobile app. Download the code as an image and send it to people who need it, or let them scan the code from the screen. QR code generator allows you to embed the code or customize the appearance of the code by changing its shape, adding color or adding a logo. So it is easy to print and give to guests.

Since Microsoft has disabled network sharing (opens in new window) with friends in Wi-Fi Sense, using a QR code generator to share Wi-Fi from iPhone to Android or Windows PC is a good option .

As the editor of How To Content, I have to cover a variety of topics and make our stories accessible to everyday users. With my background as a technical writer, copywriter, and freelancer covering baseball, comics, and more for various outlets, I’m used to making myself an expert. Here’s a way to improve your understanding of Wi-Fi security. Some people hack themselves. That doesn’t mean you have to hack into a company’s network or investigate a neighbor’s situation. Instead, ethical research and legitimate Wi-Fi penetration testing—done in conjunction with the network owner—can help you learn more about the strengths and limitations of wireless security. Understanding Wi-Fi vulnerabilities can help you secure the networks you manage and ensure a secure connection when accessing other wireless networks.
How To Find A Wi Fi Network Password On Your Device
General purpose Wi-Fi scopes are among the easiest devices to add to your pen testing kit. Although tools are passive in general, they serve an important purpose. They allow you to view nearby access points (AP) and their details, such as signal strength, security/encryption type, and media access control (MAC) address.
Using Stumbler, you can find networks that use weak security protocols, such as WEP or the original version of WPA. On the other hand, walking through a compromised building can set up a rogue AP with employees or others that could open your network to attack. Even if access points are configured with hidden or non-broadcast service set identifiers (SSIDs), some team members can quickly reveal them.
An example of a stub is Vistumbler, an open-source Windows application that displays basic AP information, including specific authentication and encryption methods, and can reveal SSID and signal level. It also displays signal level and channel usage graphs. It is customizable and offers flexible configuration options. Wistumbler supports AP names to identify them, which also helps identify rogue access points. It supports in-app GPS logging and live tracking via Google Earth. Want to take advantage of your neighbor’s super-fast Wi-Fi connection? If they’re smart, they probably have password protection (otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this, would you?). But if you have an Android phone, you can always trick them into parking in your spot and knocking on the door when they come home at 2 a.m. — stealing, borrowing, hooking them up.
A group of researchers have created a hack to add a search mode to Android devices to overcome hardware limitations and enable Wi-Fi password cracking.

Audit mode allows you to see all the traffic passing through the network and how many devices are connected to it, but it can also be used for more sinister purposes. If you are patient enough, you can crack WEP keys on a network by capturing a packet of data in search mode.
To add a search mode to Android devices, the researchers reverse-engineered a Broadcom radio chip. They changed the firmware in the chipset in the Nexus One and Galaxy S II, which is similar to the one used in most mobile devices. The code is published on Google Code, but you need to know what chipset you have and download the appropriate code for your phone.
Once you’ve downloaded the code, it’s as simple as extracting the zip file, then running the setup and configuration files. They have included instructions for each chipset and several different devices on their blog, so head over there to find out the details for yourself.
Once it’s running, check out one of our guides to learn how to use it to crack a key. So, the next time your neighbor wants to borrow your power drill, make sure you’re “borrowing” something much more valuable than him!
